I'm Back...

So, It's been real busy around here. I won't bore you with the details. Anyway, Shane Prigmore and I recently did a guest lecture at CalArts. The students are deep into their films, but were encouraged to do a new assignment for their portfolios. We know they're really busy, so encourage them to do the assignment, we told them we would do the assignment as well. So here's Scrooge.

I just can't look at this drawing and not be amused... I love his expression and pose! He reminds me of Scrooge from A Christmas Carol. If I was one of the students at CalArts, I'd be pretty intimidated to see you bring that in! Okay, it's intimidating even if I'm not a student haha.

Did you color it with gouache? How big is the original?

Yep, that's old Ebenezer. We gave the students excerpts from Dickens' book and had them design Scrooge, Marley's Ghost and Tiny Tim.

The piece was drawn and painted in Sketchbook and Photoshop.

Thanks for the comment.

It really looks like gouache! I love that you can tell it's Ebenezer Scrooge without any story props. I think my favorite version of that story is A Muppet Christmas Carol; although I never really got the singing vegetables part...

Niiiiiice... and I particularly like your color choices. Come to think of it the world could use a new animated "Christmas Carol". Who doesn't love that story. Hasn't been one in a good while.
